American Eagle Outfitters (NYSE:AEO) saw its stock surge by as much as 14% on Monday morning following a mention by former President Donald Trump on his social media platform, Truth Social.

In his post, Trump praised actress Sydney Sweeney’s recent American Eagle advertisement, highlighting the popularity of the jeans featured in the campaign, which he claimed are “flying off the shelves.” The endorsement appeared to spark a notable positive reaction in the market for the apparel brand.

Sweeney stars in a widely discussed American Eagle denim campaign, where she playfully states, “Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality, and even eye color,” before adding, “My genes are blue,” as the camera zooms in on her eyes. The ad wraps up with the tagline: “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans.”

While the campaign has drawn some criticism for allegedly emphasizing white, blonde, and blue-eyed features, the resulting buzz—combined with Trump’s mention—seems to have fueled heightened investor interest in the retailer’s stock.
