CLEAR (YOU), known for its biometric identity verification at airports and stadiums, is strengthening its healthcare footprint by joining the White House and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in a nationwide initiative to modernize digital healthcare infrastructure.
As part of the CMS Health Tech Ecosystem initiative, CLEAR will serve as the identity layer for a broad set of healthcare platforms. Its IAL2/AAL2-compliant CLEAR1 system will support safe, reusable digital identity verification for patients and providers. The effort, which now includes more than 60 participating companies, was introduced at a White House event this week and marks a major step in building a nationally coordinated, interoperable health infrastructure.
CLEAR’s identity solutions are already in use across several major healthcare organizations including Epic, Surescripts, and Wellstar. Its technology helps patients create accounts, verify insurance, and access records instantly, all while maintaining security and privacy.
The new initiative targets a wide range of use cases, including streamlining patient intake, improving chronic care management, and equipping healthcare workers with fast, secure access to digital systems. CLEAR’s tools will be deployed across both clinical and non-clinical settings, including behavioral health and emergency medical services.
Looking ahead, the CMS-aligned networks supported by this program are expected to go live in 2026. CLEAR’s involvement ensures that identity verification, a common bottleneck in digital healthcare, will be handled with speed, security, and nationwide consistency.
