Village Farms International (VFF) is scaling up its cannabis cultivation capabilities with a major investment in British Columbia. The company announced it will convert an additional 550,000 square feet of its Delta 2 greenhouse into cannabis production, boosting its total active grow space to 2.2 million square feet once the project is completed.

This expansion, unanimously approved by the Board of Directors, is expected to add 40 metric tonnes of annual cannabis production. Construction will begin in November 2025, with initial planting scheduled for spring 2026 and full ramp-up targeted for Q1 2027. The CAD $10 million project will be funded entirely with cash on hand, with most of the investment expected to occur during 2026.

The expansion reflects Village Farms’ strategy of disciplined, demand-matched growth as it continues to serve both Canadian and international markets. The move positions the company to further solidify its status as one of the world’s largest cannabis producers, with the flexibility to scale beyond that. An additional 2.6 million square feet of unused greenhouse capacity at its Delta 1 facility remains available for future expansion, if warranted by global demand.

Village Farms’ cannabis subsidiary, Pure Sunfarms, is one of Canada’s leading producers by volume and brand performance. Internationally, the company continues to grow its medical cannabis export business into markets including Germany, Israel, the U.K., and Australia, and holds a cultivation license in the Netherlands as part of the Dutch Coffee Shop Experiment.
